Xbox 360 Trade in....

one of the shops on the highstreet offered me £70 for mine ( none hdmi version) think it would be less as i was trading in for an elite

you will get £70 trade in or £50 cash on the high street.

i know this becuase i just traded mine in on sunday!

:)

Can I just hijack this thread temporarily?

I've got an original 20GB 360 and I'm thinking of upgrading to an Elite. What do I do with all my DLC? Is it "remembered" by my login and thus re-downloadable? I've seen a thread where a transfer cable is being passed around - will I need one of these?

Presumably (hopefully) all my game saves can just be copied over via flash memory of some sort - USB sticks or a hefty SD card or similar.

Any input from someone who has experienced this would be gratefully received :)

as far as im aware you cant transfer saves that way. Pretty much the point of the transfer cable. So i think thats the only way to do it. As far as your other stuff. I believe it is "remembered" to your gamertag. Then again i have no experience in this so i could be completely wrong

You can't copy saves using a USB stick. You either need to use an official Memory Unit or the transfer cable. Some save content can only be transfered using the transfer cable.

You can re-download your DLC once you recover your gamer tag on the new box, however the licences are tied to the old Xbox, so whilst your gamer profile will be able to play them whilst signed in to Xbox Live, no other gamer profiles will. You can transfer the licences using a tool on the Xbox.com website.

You can get a transfer cable from Microsoft for free once you have the serial number of the elite, or you could just borrow one.

Sure my local big console retailer was offering £85 trade in for a 360.

Hmmm ok. I really want a Bluray player and although I love my X360 I think its time I move onto a PS3....if I can still get £70 for it might trade it in.

Is it really worth trading it in for £70? That seems a pathetic sum of money to me. At the very least sell it on privately, I'm sure you'd get closer to £100 then. I just think a figure as low as £70 isn't worth it. I'd rather do a few hours overtime to make up the extra cash than let something go for that little :)

£100 might be pushing it as a private sale - one high street place is selling the 360 60GB for £130 at the moment, Arcade for £99.

Maybe I should have been a bit more truthful ;) My 360 has the "dirty disc error" thing and microsoft want 60 quid off me to repair the CD drive...

So I thought I'd trade it in and get something for it but don't want to sell it on privatly because that would be unfair- but I bought it off GAME originally so will let them deal with it.

So in summary its useless to me the way it is (although its intermittent its enough to ruin my gameing on the 360) so might as well get 70 quid for it!

Yeah fair enough. You could sort it out yourself by either buying a new DVD laser (£10) and swapping it out or simply buying a new DVD drive (£30) then swapping the PCBs over (saves having to mess around flashing legit firmware with your drive key).

But I understand that's quite a bit of hassle for most :) Especially if you want a PS3 over a working 360 then I guess it makes sense.

You can get Blu ray players for 150 quid now(sony bdps350). Wouldnt you be better off keeping your xbox and buying one of them? instead of getting 70 quid trade in and spending another 150 or more on a PS3?

EDIT: Just read your drives knackered....oh dear :(. Still, a 60 quid repair + blu ray player is still cheaper than a PS3

got rid of mine this way also.

took the hdd off and gave them dodgy console (intermittent broken drive) + broken pad (they didnt notice) and gave 55 quid.

would rather have had the 55 quid off them then shift it on personally as i'd feel bad cos of the state of it (sure i could have 3rlod it but frankly i cba. cant remember if that was a trade in price .

So could you trade in a premium without the hdd, borrow a transfer cable and transfer your old stuff to a new 360, then sell/trade in the old hdd? or does the transfer cable need each hdd attached to a 360?

I'm tempted to get a new one just because I've already had to pay £60 for repairs after a 4 lights failure and expect it will go again within the next couple of years.

i traded mine (20gb non hdmi) in for £80 credit last week

worked out cheaper to get a new elite, than buying a 120gb drive after i sold everything :)
