Xbox 360: Transfering game saves from old account to new account?

My old Xbox Live gold membership that came with the Xbox 360 i bought last year has just ran out. I created a new account so i could have my own choice of username and to take advantage of a free month of Xbox Live Gold.

Problem is, none of my game saves can be accessed by the new account. Is there any way to transfer the game saves between accounts?

The only game i'm really bothered about is Viva Pinata, my garden took ages to build up, got Chewnicorns and all sorts of expensive pinatas :p . Is it possible to move my pinatas to the new account using someone elses Xbox 360? i.e. be signed in to both of my accounts at the same time..

In fact, would it be possible to use a memory unit to copy my game saves, then copy them back into the new account?

you can copy your save games to a memory card and you should be able to use them with your new gamertag. all, that is, except for viva pinata. it doesn't let you copy the save game to a memory card so you've lost that one.

XSATA bypasses all of that.

a lot of saves are locked to your profile, you'll be better off - using your old account - signing up for another 12months and paying to change your gamertag

It costs 800 points to change your name, that's about £6.50. :(

Would I even be able to use the name from the new account, since I've already taken it?

You could try emailing support asking them what you need to do to make it the new name even though you registered, might be a way around it

paying to change your name is imo bs. its your console, your online ( or not ), ms get enough cash from you as it is. they cant charge for that

Becareful if you start moving saves around, when I got my new 360 I moved all gamesaves to my memory card but managed to delete all of my oblivion saves because M$ asks you to confirm about 5 times before you actually do anything - my advice is take your time!

Then don't use it. Simple really.

It's Microsoft's service, they can charge what they like.
