XBOX 360 unplayble disk error...

Was just playing NFS:Carbon, finished a race then suddenly the game froze and told me the disk was possibly damaged or dirty, now none of my games will load...however, music cd's play just fine...anybody got any idea what might have happened, it's driving me mad.

Also, no possibility of an in-store replacement as this was a gift and i'm pretty sure it was bought via a mail order catalogue.

Probably a laser problem, Will video DVD's play? CD's and DVD's use different wavelengths of laser, it would be helpful to know if ANY DVD's play at all (Becase all games are on DVD+R9)

Youve not done anything naughty to it have you?

Haven't done anything bad at all, got home from work, put it on, played about 5 mins of NFS:C and then bam...error message and no disks working at all.

No DVD's at all will play, only music cd's

send it back im afraid m8, its the sort of thing that can be fixed internally but its not worth losing your warranty over. Basically the laser and or its volt supply is borked in some manner

is it worth trying a different kettle lead in the psu?

no m8. sorry. PSU modulates the incoming power but doesnt affect the power allocated to the laser by drive components.

EDIT sorry re-read your first post, will have to go to MS then probably

Try taking it back to the store first, quicker than sending to MS and depending on AGE and other T+C's it should be covered by your statutory rights.
