Since my friend is on holiday he has given me his Xbox 360 for the week. I'm interested in playing it online and therefore I've attempted to create a Xbox Live account.

The problem I have is that it requires an update to the Dashboard, which is 128mb to download..and sadly he is without a HD and only a 128mb Memory Unit. The unit has 3mb of space remaining.

Now I saw on the website - http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/support/xbox360/system-update.htm

And it states you can download a file and burn it to DVD. I've tried this, using many methods but I see no way of it working.

Has anyone been successful in patching their Xbox 360 using the download from the website? I'd really like to update it so I can begin playing Fifa 09 with my cousin.

Where am I going wrong?

Thanks in Advance

And how do you suppose the consoles stores the new dash and associated assets, installing from a dvd will make no difference because it still has to install to the console.

You'll have to buy another memory card or ideally a HD. You can pick up the 20gb model very cheap now.

I'm pretty sure you should be able to download only 8mb of the NXE update and just delete the extra with all the avatars etc.

you have extracted the contents of the zip file? sry might be a stupid question but the guide seems pretty standard for the updating ive seen. mabey try download from another source?
