xbox 360 update today

I really hope one day they release 1680x1050 support, :( it cant be too hard surely, they've already got 16:10 support in the form of 1280x768 :(

And with pretty much all 20-22" monitors being that resolution you'd think there would be a reason to include it

That link is for the update for a month ago.

Only three changes:

http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2006/11/30/dashboard-update-aka-the-1080p-fix.aspx

To cut-n-paste:

The next time you sign into Xbox Live, you’ll be prompted for a dashboard update. The update contains:

- Improved support for HD video output over VGA, including 1080p resolution
- Improved plug and play performance for wired headsets when being used with wireless controllers
- Changes made to recently played games list to improve accuracy

This update is being rolled out across the world, so you may not get it exactly at this moment, so be patient.

That's 15:9 bud...close, but no cigar.

If they can do crazy ratios like 15:9 then they can add 16:10

LOL. Both are non-standard, as neither are 16:9 or 4:3. I wouldn't say 16:10 is any more standard. It might be fairly common in monitors, but still non-standard.

I wonder if the 1080p over VGA update solves the washed out colour issues that some folk, yours truly included, are having... I've gone back to component in the meantime.

I'm not saying there standard

I was saying if they can add that resolution I dont see why it isnt as easy to add 16:10

And why release a VGA cable if your not going to support some of the more popular resolutions. They go for widescreen gaming too, well most of the widescreen monitors are either 1440x900 or 1680x1050. Yet neither are supported, not really on tbf

Perhaps it is easier to take a 1280x720 signal and convert to 1280x768 (just add a few blanks lines) than take the same signal and go to 1680x1050? Going from 1920x1080 to 1680x1050 might be rather hard as well. It is just a guess, but come on, just because they support one res and not another means there must be some reason.

Remember it is a console after all.

So will this solve the GoW headset issues with people joining in?

Will be annoyed if this doesn't get fixed. It is the only game that I have played on the 360 where people who join half way through a game can't hear other people.
