Xbox 360 upright or lying down

Well you cover the end if you do that which has more vent holes than the bottom. So that doesnt make sense. Mine lays flat.

The vents are probably only there because when you've got the console flat you have a smaller surface area exposed to the air for cooling (Just the top as opposed to top and bottom if its verticle.)

had mine horizontal ever since the day it ripped up my PGR3 disk from it being vertical 3 hours after i bought it!!!!!

but yeah, cant see how vertical or horizontal positioning can really help or hinder the cooling of the machine

Mine is laying down - never had any issues with it so far.

Mine is lying down and always has been and have had no problems with it. Apart from one tiny section of PGR3 on one race a texture is missing for a split second and is noticable but I think that's more the game than the console

Mines is vertical ontop of my PC next to my PS2 and Speaker conenctions

i had my 1st one lying down well ventilated etc etc, very careful with it, it died

my 2nd one im taking a chance, with all the stuff next to it

Microsoft wouldn't have developed it to go both ways round if having it one way had a detrimental effect on performance.

Agreed, stand it up, lay it down, it don't matter.

Mine is horizontal as its on top of my Wardrobe.

If I have it by my pc (for HD out of my monitor) I run it Vertical and I havn't noticed any difference (either in terms of heat or noise)

Persoanlly have mine upright, used to have it lay flat but I think it looks better stood up
