XBox 360 VGA Cable Question

Have searched, and as far as i could see my specific question has not been answered.

I have looked on some company websites, local high street game retailers (I presume they are competitors of some sort so i wont mention names!) and they advertise the 'Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable' which i think is what i am after? It's about £17 so would this be an official one, or a cheap imitation?

I have a crappy 17" TFT, but it is better than my TV which i can't read text on some games, and some games are not in full view. Plus it means i can run with my XBox into my room and not have to sit with randoms in my flat.

Also, the monitor has poor sound, will this be outputting the sound? I have some half decent PC speakers, can these plug directly into the earphone socket of the monitor to output better sound?

These questions are probably stupid, but it's late, ive been working for hours and i need a ....... beer and a hug! :D

Get the OFFICIAL MICROSOFT ONE! i can't emphasise that enough, superior quality, and you get a composite left & right to line in socket for plugging straight into your PC's line in!

MS knew that people buying this would be using a VGA monitor connected to a PC (not standalone) so everything you need to get it running WITH your pc, is included :)

Just have to have your pc on for sound, of course! ;)

Sorry about the strong emphasis, my gf's brother bought one from a competitor with thier own branding, needless to say, composite left/right jacks to headphone cables can be a pain in the arse to pick up when he's whining about no sound and you have to catch a trai very early! :D

Yep, in some cases you'll need a 3.5mm male-male jack to go from the bacl female port to the pc line in, if other speaker types may vary to need male input, or you might be able to plug the phono straight in, whats the back of your speakers look like (Where you'd plug it in)
