Hi,

I am probably going to be picking one of these up tomorrow, I am going to now be using my xbox on my 19" LCD screen. When I plug the yellow red and white plugs into it the picture is very unclear. But when I have my pc plugged into it the picture is great in games ect very sharp. When I plug my telewest box into my pc screen aswell with the yellow red and white cables the picture is bad. So do you think a VGA cable would be my best bet. The screen is not HD btw.

Thanks.

If your screen is a 19" LCD then it is HD.

HD is just a resolution, that monitor should be able to display 720p no probs, unless you have some freaky screen which doesn't run at 1280x1024 :\

They are very succeptable to interferance and as a result can give a pretty shoddy picture quality.
Not just that. They use inferior wire that often doesn't meet the VGA specifications resulting in green tints, ghosting etc.

Most cheaper ones are reported to have terrible quality compaired to the official cable, Shop assistants will tell you otherwise so that you buy their brand.
A video cable should not be somewhere you skimp on cost imo.

Plus the M$ one gives fantastic quality.

The cheaper ones often lack proper shielding and this can cause problems with the high bandwidth vga signal. I got an MS one from the bay a week ago for £12. Give it a go :)

I went from component to VGA (official) on my 360 connected to a 32" LCD tv.

Played a DVD and you know you have a win when the wife notices the difference in quality :)

I bought a £3.99 VGA cable off eBay. Had a few problems with a fuzzy pattern very slightly visable when the screen was black. I just assumed this was because I was using a cheapo cable so went out and bought the official one at the weekend.

Surprisingly the problem is still there and I can see zero difference in the picture quality between the two cables! I guess the fuzziness must be the TFT, although I can't notice it when I have my laptop hooked up..wierd

The most annoying thing is that MS see fit to pack all their accessories in blister packs which you have to destroy to get the product out. I now can't take the official cable back for a refund and it'll only sell for around a tenner on the MM :(

I have the official one, but have just switched back to the component cable.

The issue I found on my TV is that with the VGA I couldn't switch screen sizes (for example to force a 4:3 DVD into widescreen).

Not sure if the picture was any better, my eyes aren't that good.

But the 3 downsides I found to VGA on 360 (for me personally);

1) The resizing thing above.
2) VGA socket on my Pioneer media box is round the front.
3) Dead Rising has a nasty VGA tear bug.
