xbox 360 VGA Cable

Well, your monitor appears to have the same native resolution and aspect ratio as my Samsung SM226BW(1680x1050 / 16:10).

I'm running at 1280x768 since that's the closest I can get to the correct aspect ratio for my monitor (16:10). The aspect ratio of 1280x768 is so close to 16:10 that you won't even be able to tell the difference between that and true 16:10.

Text...etc doesn't look perfectly clear, on the dashboard for example, the text is slightly blurry/unclear, but the games themselves look perfect.

Make sure you have downloaded the dashboard update so you can change the reference levels. I have set the reference levels to 'Extended' and it makes the colours look a whole lot better.

Also I found that setting the sharpness on my monitor to full made it look a lot better also.

So yeah I would say 1280x768.

Yes but the VGA cable only goes 1280x768 then 1360x768 then 1920x1080. There is no 1440x900 or 1680x1050.

Try 1280*1024. Before you say "that's utter madness, 1280*1024 is 5:4 and my screen is 16:10", in the setting below resolution in the 360 settings you can set the aspect ratio to 'wide' and then the aspect ratio is correct. It's higher res than using 1280*768, and it doesn't do any vertical upscaling so the picture quality is better.

But when you select 1280x768, it automatically sets the Screen format setting to Widescreen, and it's practically 16:10, so how can 1280x1024 on Widescreen setting be 16:10?

^^ The 360 produces a horizontally squished image, so when the monitor stretches it to fit the 16:10 screen it looks correct I'd Imagine, havent tried it though personally.
