Hi all,

I currently have a Philips 32PF3320 (until stock of my new tv comes in).

I am trying to use the 360 with the VGA cable and a VGA-DVI adaptor but I get Video Mode not supported and it is driving me mad. If I use my component-DVI adaptor, it works fine.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated

Perhaps the TV does not support VGA via DVI? Not sure.

Can't see that model on the philips website, but from the spec sheets I can see about the TV, there's the chance it doesn't like the VGA signal, but I'd have thought if it can take an analogue signal like component, it should be able to take one for VGA.

Have you used the VGA cable on another TFT etc?

Hi Davey,

I have tried the cable on a TFT at work and all is fine, I have checked the manual and it does take a vga connection with the adaptor, it is driving me insane :p

Philips site link here

What may be the problem is that you could have left your VGA settings at too high a resolution, so after trying it at work, you may have left it at 1280x1024. Now coming to try it on your HDTV, it might not support that resolution.

This appears to be the case looking at the manual, it says analogue PC input only allows up to 1024x768.

Can you not just hook your VGA cable to the monitor you are using now?

Ah bugger.

One thing you can try then, is doing it blind. I have not got my 360 by me at the time, but I'm sure a kind soul on here could give the correct button combination to set the 360 back down to 640x480. If nobody does reply in the next couple of hours, then I'll have a go and see what I can remember.

If the manual is right, and it can only do 1024x768, then it's kind of wasted anyway, as it wont look very good compared to component at 720p.
