I bought a 360 vga lead the other day with the view of connecting up to my 19in lcd monitor which only has a vga input.

Now im seriously thinking of getting the BenQ FP241W 24in or something simular but would I really need a component lead to get the best out of this set up or would the vga be just as good?

I'm sure VGA will be just as good :) I got component over VGA but not for any real reason, tbh I would probably get VGA now because then I could connect it upto a monitor if a mates TV doesn't do 60hz :p

There is a big difference between the two but everyone seems to have differing experiences upon trying them on their HD sets.

I used to use VGA on my 20.1" LCD and swore it was miles better then component. Hell since the last update, which sorted out VGA blacks the general opinion is that VGA is a lot better then Component. I tend to agree with that.

However VGA looks horribly 'soft' on my new 32" Sammy screen, whilst Component looks sharp - so I can't win lol

Everyone is going to have a different answer but VGA is the best ;) :p

It really depends on the screen but VGA generally gives a sharper/clearer image in my experience.

I find VGA is better than component for me - less jagged edges in games.

Scort.

I have my 360 plugged into my plasma via VGA and it is spot on for games and HD movies. I find component over saturates the colours from my experience.

component over vga for me as i think the colours are more vivid even with vga brightness tweaks

also i think games are designed with component in mind as this is the lead you get with it also no xbox emulation over vga

plus points of vga may be slightly sharper but the colours are more important to me

and it upscales dvds but i can do that on my pc via hdmi so no great loss there

I play xbox games over VGA, did you mean no 50hz only games over VGA?

VGA upscales DVDs component doesn't, always going to be a big factor for me.
Very good point. Since I watch HD-DVD's now, I'd forgotten all about VGA being allowed to upscale dvd's.

I have 2 LCD TV's - a 26" LG and a 32" Hitachi

On the Hitachi , component is sooo much better than VGA
On the LG, VGA is sooo much better that component

Seems to be entirely TV dependent.

Worth noting though that VGA on the LG the best picture out of all combinations by far. In fact I cant imagine a better picture (its on a par with my HDMI PS3 picture quality on the same TV.)

Kameo on this TV over VGA just blows me away every time I play it :)

does anyone use their 360 on a samsung LE37R87BDX ? if so any preference on what cable to use ?
