Xbox 360 - VGA or HDMI? Flicker sometimes

I recently bought this 24" Asus monitor for use with my Xbox 360.

I connected it via VGA and it does give a very good image, however I notice when on black backgrounds (usually loading screens) it looks as if the monitor pixels are flickering and as if they aren't totally still. Is this normal? You can notice this effect on other colors but it's barely noticeable when you're actually playing the game, it seems to be just on paused screens. Any idea why this happens?

My brother has a 24" full HDTV and his does the same thing, maybe it's just a normal effect of the backlight?

It doesn't seem to do it as bad via HDMI - Overall which is better to use for my 360? HDMI or VGA?

It doesn't do this in Windows - When I set a black background it's fine, maybe it's just a 360 thing?

Cheers

I bought a brand new HDMI cable and now the flickering has stopped.

Can anyone of you experts tell me why my xbox 360 might have been fuzzy via VGA? Could it be because my monitor is full HD?

I always thought the impression was VGA gives a better image than HDMI?

Cheers

Technically HDMI gives a higher quality image than VGA but some people seem happier with the image VGA produces.

Agh now I've run into another problem that makes me thing the VGA slot on the monitor might be faulty?

I connected my PC via VGA, set the res to 1920X1080 and I'm getting the exact same effect I got with my 360, a flickering unclear image.

Any idea what this could be? :(

Did you use the same VGA cable to connect the Xbox and the PC?

If so possibly a faulty cable.

Different cables mate.

It's fine by DVI - As I would expect because it's a different port but it's just weird it has this effect via VGA with my PC and Xbox 360.

It's as if the picture is flashing/flickering very fast, very very noticeable on dark backgrounds.

What else could be causing this?

I had problem hooking my xbox 360 via HDMI to my Dell u2711 and was going black sometimes so I bought a HDMI to DVI adapter and put it on the same HDMI Cable using the DVI on my Dell u2711 and that worked fine so no more black screens.
I guess that HDMI on my Dell 2711 is not following HDPC standard as correctly as the DVI connection hence why it is working with DVI but not with HDMI connection.

Change colour space from "Auto/RGB" to "YCbCr709"

This fixed the same problem I had on my monitor.

A friend gave me a xbox vga cable to try because his xbox was fuzzy compaired the scart connection he was using. I have a autentic xbox vga cable and provides a pure crisp picture on my 50" TV and on my monitors. Tis cable had really bad interference and was very fuzzy even at normal screen res, 720 was unplayable, he got it off ebay for around £3 or so. He got a replacement Game store branded cable and it sorted his problem.
