Does the Xbox 360 VGA cable output 1080p because any site I have found selling it suggests it does not.

I was thinking this could be due to the fact that the 360 didn't do 1080p until an update and now both the cable and the 360 do. Is that a fair assumption or can it just not do it?

Sorry if it has been asked before, I did look.

It will do it as long as your TV can do 1080P over VGA (assuming you are using a TV and not a monitor). Some TV's cant and will only do 1080P over HDMI or component.

ive had 1080p running on both VGA and component and i cant say i can see much difference between the two.

Really? i can see quite a difference, I prefer VGA over component and HDMI, the graphics seem a lot smoother i.e less jaggies! The colors seems right also as i find them to bright/vibrant with component/HDMI

It very much depends on your tv/display..

On my glorified PC monitor, VGA looks much better then Component, in fact component looks a bit meh in comparison, on my Sharp 42" 1080p LCD component looks uber crisp and clear..

On a 720p tv it certainly made a difference, as you could set the rez to match the TV(from the normal 1280x720p to 1369x768).

On a full HD TV(1080p)though i couldnt tell much difference at first. But now that ive played with the settings a bit. VGA seems to have better image quality than component.
