Xbox 360 Video Steaming

Is it true that you may only steam .wma files to your 360 from your PC using WMP11 with the video steam feature? If that is the case, what is a good convertor to convert .avi files and how long would it take on a 2800+64bit AMD processor?

Is there a better way to go around streaming videos from my PC to my TV? Is there a way to use the media centre option in my 360 without having it on my PC?

Help much apreciated.

TVersity or Transcode 360(my fave) will do what you want Tversity if you dont have MCE or transcode if you do.

Transcode 360 works great for me, theres another program which is called VLC360 too, both need MCE though.

XP wise theres a new program called Orb http://www.orb.com/ however I've read it's pretty pants.

TVersity works for me, albeit a bit flakey at times

Just tried Orb, seems to work ok for me, worked right away and no messing about unlike TVersity
