Xbox 360 warranty, how does it work?

Looking to get an Xbox 360 from someone but the receipt is lost. Do you need the receipt for warranty purposes or will MS purely go off the serial numbers?

Go off the serial number.

3 year warranty for red rings.
1 year warranty for everything else.

No need for the reciept unless you wish to take it back to the shop. MS use serial numbers for warrenty purposes

if the serial has been registered with someone else through xbox Live they won't touch it as its 2nd hand

Unless you have bought it say 6 months after the manufacture date!

Man = Jan 05
Bought = June 05

So it would be in warranty with receipt without it then not.

They will accept a transfer of owner if the original owner speaks to them to say its ok, the warranty is honoured then
