Decided to fire up the 360 today and play some drums, Noticed during gameplay my screen would start flickering blue and green colours, Looked at my dashboard and noticed this

Any ideas whats going on? And this is a September 2007 zephyr elite, Occasionally get the E74 error on boot with one red light but took no notice of it.

EDIT: Also seems to be not displaying audio/video on boot up, left it for a few minutes and it booted but still the weird colours on screen

Unlucky. If it's in warranty and you want to break it, just keep using it for prolonged periods in a hot room with no airflow. You could block the vent as well if you want. I reckon you could break that easily within a day or so.

Standard warranty ran out as it was purchased in October 2007. I believe the extended 3 year warranty covers the RROD and E74 correct?

Extended warranty covers the E74 warning, and you'll most likely get that warning soon as my xbox did the same as yours just before it showed the E74 message.Ring MS and they'll sort it out.

yep 3yr on that

that corruption will give E74 soon

If I were you I would register the console now on Xbox.com ready for when it happens - or just request a repair now on the site.

I had exactly the same issue with a 360 about 2 years ago. At first MS said I would have to pay for repair. Phoned back and told them it had RROD (even though it didn't) and they fixed it and sent it back in just over a week. Result!!!

This. Expect it to RROD or E74 permanently soon.

Ooh, ello! My 360 is still working a treat!

and with regards to the RROD or E74, isn't E74 more common now? Where as before it would just RROD?

Anyway, both covered for 3 years, so send it back whilst you can. IF it RROD's or E74's, take pictures to prove it. May help if they can't get it to happen.

E74 seems more common on Falcon consoles.

Only seems to do the E74 when i first switch it on after it not being used for a period of time, Colours on the screen are still messing up, I registered the console on the xbox website the day I purchased it, do you think it is worth me requesting a repair right now stating the E74 error?

Hmm, If I send this off to repair, Will I recieve a replacement with the newer chip (Jasper?) or whatever the current ones are, Do I need to send in the PSU and faceplate?
Thanks

You just need to send the console. No hard drive, PSU. Keep the faceplate on.

Not sure what replacement they will put in. My old launch Premium got replaced with the Opus motherboard, but those are only available as replacements for the Xenon's.
