Xbox 360 = whisper quiet????

Is this the biggest load of poo i have ever read? Not long had my new version went for the 4gb as i just wont use 250's worth.
But anyway after reading everywhere thats its whisper quiet i can still hear it rather loudly.
How quiet is whisper quiet??
How loud is your 360 ?
 
The machine is whisper quiet. If it's not, it's broken.

The DVD drive still makes noise, though no where near as bad.
The power brick has a very loud, small fan, so is also reasonably loud.
 
No im just downloading a demo and i can hear something. Not sure if its the power brick, maybe im being too fussy im not in a position where i can mess with all the cables and what not at the mo. Girlfriend had to sort out the installation.
 
Ha ha no i could manage to plug it all in but im unable to get under the tv unit and sort things out ETC.
Were lucky the Wii is in the other tv room so the kids can play it out of the way.

That's where you went wrong.

360 is only 'whisper quiet' if you install your games.

Otherwise you get the DVD drive noise.

Not only that but it's well worth the extra few quid. I've got around 30 games and installed them all and still have 70gb spare, I love the 250gb drive!

But i have not gone wrong, when i had my old elite i never installed any of the games.
Like i said in one of my previous posts i had the Xbox on and it was downloading a game demo so the drive was not spining.
 
Absolutely love my 360 Slim, so so quiet compared to others, can occasionally hear the fans in pitch quiet for a second or 2, but other than that, it really is audibly invisible to me, makes my 40GB PS3, which is quiet, look loud!

If i ever did decide i wanted a hdd i could always buy one when the time came.
At the moment the 4gb console is all i need and i got a good enough deal too.

Maybe its due to the power brick we have just chucked it under our tv unit and the sound maybe echoing from under there???
 
Mine is really loud right now, but thats due to it having barely any space to breathe, going to move it on top of the unit I think, or back to where my elite was... a cupboard with a nice long hdmi cable!
 
having gone from a 20GB old premium (i think it was the launch chipset) to the xbox 360 s 250GB i will NOT be going back. its really quiet, even putting a game/dvd its really quiet compared to the old one, plus i love the space.
 
Hmmm maybe im forgetting how loud my old elite was... Cant remember my slim PS3 being anywhere near this noisy though.
