Hi all, getting a 360 through the post today and I'm going to want to get it on Live! somehow. I've got a 3com wireless adsl router sitting downstairs by the telephone and on my laptop the signal is fine, but on my pc it is never good.

I've just checked out the Wireless Adapter to make the connection as a cable just wont be possible (moaning parents), the official one, and it's £60 which seems a bit steep but I have a few Q's regarding getting the 360 online:

1) How good is the official wireless adapter, is the signal strength any good? Is it worth £60?
2) Is there any other product that will let me connect an RJ45 to a device that will interact with my router and then get it online that way?
3) Can I run it through my laptop/pc and share the connection that way?

Cheers

1) The official one is good. It is neat, small, uses the USB connector, and uses a/b/g networks. However, it isn't cheap, but signal is as good as my PCI wireless card in my PC if not better.

2) You can just as easily buy an ethernet wireless bridge. They are cheaper, about £35 and will do the exact same thing. However, they will use the RJ45 port (only the official wireless dongle can use USB) and it will probably have to be configured on a PC first.

3) Yes. Not as simple, and will require the PC to be on, but works well once setup.

1) I had initial problems with it not connecting to the xbox properly and the fitting on the back of the Xbox is loose. After this though I have never had any problems in the 10 months I have used it. 10/10 bit of kit. Rip off for £60 though unfortunately, but I had to go wireless and I am very happy with the results.

The adapter is amazing quality, I get full signal in the living room but with the ps3 i only get 63%, I got mine for £35 from hong kong.
