Can't you use any sort of USB WIFI dongle for it? I thought you could.

You can use any wireless bridge by connecting it to the ethernet port of the 360. The only USB dongle that works (at the moment) is the official MS one (Drivers etc.)

My grandma wants to know how you get the radio errr as she calls it "wireless" on a X360?

Joking aside although MCE can have too long of delays for my liking what is superb is streaming your music wirelessly from a PC or laptop. There you go all your music sitting ready at hand for custom soundtracks via your blade.

I just added a D-Link DSL-904 54mbs that easily allows the X360 to connect via ethernet and then also wifi to laptop. not having to turn on my desktop PC anymore for broadband is another benifit as the router takes care of that.

So just to clarify for us networking numpty's for wireless on the 360 you need:

A wireless acsess point connected to Xbox ethernet port
A wireless router connected to modem of the same standard (or does it need to be the same make ?)

Is that correct guys ?

What make is best for going through walls and "upstairs to dowstairs" or is it much of a muchness ?

1. A wireless acsess point connected to Xbox ethernet port
2. The official MS Wireless Adapter

Both would then be connected to your Wireless router wirelessly. Wireless router is then connected to the Internet.

Huh sorry I must be being really stupid

Surely you mean either one or two?

Isnt an access point basically an ethernet cable with a hub on the end ( and if its wireless it will have an aerial) so your wireless router connects to the xbox thru the access point?

I am not up on access points but I thought thats what they were - ie what we call a router without the firewall, switch and modem capabilities?

Yes .. I too thought the wireless acsess connected to xbox ethernet was all you need that end, and a wireless router at your modem

You just need one of those, not both. Would defeat the object of buying the cheaper access point :p
