Right now I have mp3s streaming to the XBox from my Mac using Connect360 ... what would having a MCPC allow me to do that I can't right now?

I'd love to be able to stream DIVX stuff to the XBOX but I'm pretty sure that's not supported.

...also what's the min spec I'd need to do this well?

Cheers!

ive got 3 xbox 360s connected around my house to my media center pc.
all wifi connected to and works great

this allows me to watch pause record live tv ect on any tv in my house.

you can stream any divx movie ect all you need to do is convert it with videora and just create an xbox 360 films movies folder ect.

once setup its like having a media center in every room.

To do this ive also got 3 tv cards connected to my media center.this allows everyone to watch a different channel all at the same time they also all have access to movies music and pictures.

or if you had 1 xbox you could record 2 shows and watch 1.

i work as an electrician and installed a media center into a customers house with a 32inch lcd tv in his kitchen wall mounted with an xbox 360 wall mounted behind it :) its very cool and his mates all want it doing now to :)

the media center also has a very cool party mode for music where as all the music on your system is displayed and ppl just use the remote to add there song to the play list just like a juke box great for partys
i think this is one of the greatest features about the xbox360 and the least known about.
its great go for it :)

Not fussed about that, have Sky+, and only have a TV in the living room.

..all sounds nice, but not really worth me spending £500odd on a PC just to do that when I can pretty much do that right now.

Thanks for the info though, just what I was after :)

Connect360's a godsend :D Fan-smegging-tastic piece of software.

I'm not realy enamoured with MCE, probably because I don't use it much (PC & 360 share a VGA input on my monitor, and I can't be arsed getting a KVM :p). The MCE Extender in the 360 is just far too limited for me to really bother with, I'd buch rather swap the VGA cables and have the real thing.

If you're actually using all the features, I'm sure it's great, but I don't :p

transcode360 is also very good! It converts it on the fly and all u gotta do is go into movies on media center options and transcode and off it goes ;)

unless you have a burning desire to stream genuine HD material (ie 10GB an hour stuff) you'd be better off spending about 60 or 70 on an original xbox and putting XBMC on it. You can watch canything you like then :)
