Can anyone tell me if i should wait for the new PS3 or get a Xbox 360 now?
Sell it to me as i cannot make up my mind which one to get.

PS3 is still ages away.

Buy a 360 and enjoy it, you can always sell it when the PS3 comes out if you really fancy.

I'm planning on buyin the new tomb raider game for my ps2 but if it's going to be better on the Xbox 360 then maybe i ought to get the 360.

:)

Think forward to the PS3 launch. With dev kits coming out in May (2 months away) serious games dev can only start after that date for most developers. That leaves 6 months to do the majority of work on the game for it to launch with the PS3.

Conversely the Xbox 360 will have had almost 2 years of development time, 1 year with actual finished hardware.

Its not a case of waiting for the PS3 launch, its going to be waiting a year after it when the Xbox 360 and PS3 developments will start to converge.

You can still sell the Xbox 360 if you don't like it. Save £40 a month from now on, and you should have enough for a PS3 at launch in November.

if you can afford one get one. Its the best console out now, will definietly be the best for 9 months and will probably be the best for at least 12-18 months. If the PS3 blows it out of the water (unlikely but you never know!) just sell it and buy a PS3.

Pretty much any new game from now on will also be getting a release on X360, so theres no point in waiting.

Apart from playing games what else is the 360 good at?

Warming the room?

It has semi-decent media capabilities, providing you network it to your PC. You will only get the full benefit from this aspect of it though if you have XP Media Centre.

It also has the potential via live! to be updated to have enhanced media capabilities should the demand be strong enough to force MS hands.

I expect that it will eventually support DivX - especially if the PS3 does.

I think the divx suppot is a commercial decision though. Divx is a 3rd party codec. They dont include it with MCE either, but obviously users can download and intsall it themselves on a PC, whereas if MS wanted to include it with X360 they would have to do a licensing deal with DivX. Its not like they cant afford it, but as its probably seen by them as a competitor to WMV it may be unlikely.

I agree and I expect them to offer it as a £10 add on later on, probably dropping that to just a couple of quid if the PS3 supports DivX, possibly even free.

MS has for a long time wanted it's products "at the centre of your digital home". If DivX support becomes an influence in choosing between PS3 and Xbox360 then I think it'll be available as a download in much the same way as Ipod support was added.

These threads are tiresome, there are SO many and all of them have people raving about the 360.
Xbox360 has awesome games now, the PS3 is ages away.
