Is it just me or does the newer xbox 360's feel cheaply made compared to the launch day consoles ? Everything about the newer xbox 360 feels tacky compared to my launch day console

When you say "Everything".....? If you have had both new and old consoles you should be able to quantify it a bit better!!! Vaguest thread/title/content since ermmmm.....yesterday?

Is the plastic different? Are bits of your console falling off? We would have heard by now if MS changed their manufacturing process I suspect....

One thing i can say about my 4 week old 360 is that it is well made. I wish everything i bought was of such high quality. Reliability i cannot comment on but the build quality is Superb

My Elite's on/off button does feel quite a bit different to my other original console. It just doesn't feel like it depresses properly, when you go to turn it off you wonder if you have actually pressed it

I have an elite and never touched a launch day console. I think the build quality is lovely. Nice shut lines on the console, good feeling buttons and it feels sturdy.
