Hi,

Strange request, but does anyone have an old Xbox 360s receipt bought less than a year ago ?

My 360s has red ringed so I logged a call with Microsoft and the console is 1 year and 2 weeks old so therefore out of warranty :(

But he said if i can get a receipt to show i bought it after this date then he would get it repaired free of charge.

I tried to say the EU 2 year thing but he wouldn't accept it

I was under the impression RROD was 3 years, certainly had mine repaired when it was 2 and a bit years old for that fault, whether still applicable to modern 360's i don't know.
Try getting relevant part of sales of goods act and seeing how they behave then, citizens advise always worth a shot too.

According to here: http://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-360/repair/warranty-faq#b482d604ae144b388909dbde75f625da

you have 3 years warranty for three flashing red lights/e74 error. Hopefully their own support page should be correct!

I think you have either misread the OP or misread the page you quoted. He has a 360 S...

•Original Xbox 360 console with three flashing red lights or error E74: Three years from the console purchase date (not applicable to the Xbox 360 E console or Xbox 360 S console)

Ah ok and is the S differer in terms of warranty? I didn't realise. My bad. Who did you buy from? Maybe they have a better warrant than MS? (Although doubtful).

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah 360 slim with a single red dot error. Bought it at Argos with cash so they can't prove I got it from them :(

Receipt or no receipt , the sales of goods act still covers you for up to 5 years

Also , having a receipt given to you inside 12 months wont work . As the barcode on the xbox will tell Microsoft what shop the console was shipped to and at what date.

any good retailer would have just accept it back , seeing as its just out of warranty. I'd phone again tbh and speak to someone else.
