Xbox accessories

Although I have a 360 I still use my old Xbox a reasonable amount but I fancy some accessories for it. So I am looking for recommendations for a decent joystick and decent wheel/pedal combo and a decent arcade style stick.

Secondly I think the new Xbox 360 controllers are USB compatible so presumeably old control devices could be used from the Xbox on the 360 ?

Anyone know if this can be done?

The connections are different though are they not? Xbox 1 used a modified USB connector, whereas the 360 just uses a normal USB one.

As I understand it the Xbox1 had an additional wire purely for light gun games.
Other than that it was regular USB and there are adapters for xbox controllers to USB for use on the PC.
Assuming it'll work as a USB device on the PC will it work on the Xbox360 ?

It would be handy if it does, saves buying new steering wheels, snowboard controllers etc.

I have a couple of Thrustmaster "snowboards" for SSX etc and they are very good and were very expensive. Would love to use them on the 360, might have to invest in a Xbox1 to USB adapter and try it out.

Oh yeah I know the wiring is near identicle, I just didnt think about using adaptors.

To be honest I'd be surprised if it worked, but anything like this is always worth a shot :)

I looked into getting a wheel and pedals for my Xbox recently, but there don't seem to be a lot of good ones to choose from. All the wheels I read about had issues of one type or another. The Fanatec one seems to get the best reviews but it costs about the same as my console did and I'm not sure I want one that badly :)

The MadCatz MC2 wheel sounds good except that lots of reviewers (from buyers on sites like Amazon) have said the same thing, which is that it can disconnect (not physically) and stop responding mid-game - it seems to have some kind of issue there.

Anyway if someone does know of a decent, responsive reliable wheel for the Xbox then I'm all ears. Preferably one which can be used on your lap rather than having to be fixed to a desk etc.

You want to use Original equipment on an Xbox360?
what about the lack of a media button?

That is a fairly good point and one that I had not thought of.
However I do want a steering wheel and pedals, joytech are supposed to release the nitro wheel for the 360 at the end of this month. I would like to use that on my old xbox assuming it is compatible.

I also want a decent joystick for arcade style games (considering the X-Arcade) and a decent flight stick for Secret Weapons over Normandy, Crimson Skies etc. Lastly a lightgun for house of the dead 3 that works on 100hz TVs and on a DLP TV - allegedly such a gun exists.

At the end of the day if I am going to fork out a lot of cash on controllers I would like to be able to use them on the 360 as well.

I can't think why the USB controllers from the Xbox 1 would not work on the USB port of the 360 ? I thought someone must have tried it but can't find any evidence of it.

Some further googling shows that with a USB adaptor the Xbox pad can be used on a PC running 2k/XP and that the 360 controller should work with games running XP sp1 or later.
I am pretty confident that the old controllers will work (sans media button) on the 360 - I'll order up an adaptor and find out.

Not sure I can link to them here but they are £5.
They come in 2 versions one is to convert a xbox controller for use on a pc via usb and the other is to convert a usb device to the xbox port plug.
Lots of places sell them.
