XBox Backup

Hey, i have an original 360 and have just bought a slim, Just wanted to know the best practice for moving everything across (assuming every thing can be?) not in front of it right now but I assume the xbox has a built in backup program that will go to external HDD etc.?

Easiest way - transfer kit (Google it).

Long way - copy save games/profile to a USB stick and move over, re-download any games or DLC from Live.

transfer kit looks much easier, but not exactly cheap for what it is.

Save games were all that was really important to me, as long as those can be copied i will survive

i just used a usb pen to transfer all my saves,wasnt anything else worth keeping that i cannot re download

One thing ive noticed from reading, it seems without the transfer kit the achievements dont come across?

Transfer your gamertag via USB. If you're on Live your achivements live in the cloud.

when i did mine i just recovered my gamer tag,then transferred saves with usb stick

hmm, only thing is i'm not on live so im guessing they wont come across without the kit

You can save your profile to a USB stick and then just copy it to the new console.
