Xbox Classic Hi Def AV pack availability

Does anyone know where I could get a genuine Microsoft High Definition AV pack from? I have been searching via google for an hour and not found anyone that has them in stock in the UK, even the bay has only turned up cheapo Chinese copies.

Hmm, found a few s/h ones on the bay now, but would prefer a new one as it's for a gift.

I had to import one a while back, but it worked out pretty cheap doing it that way. I got mine from lik-sang but they are not around anymore.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the Microsoft High Definition AV pack was never available in the UK (I imported mine from US). Also you need a NTSC Xbox or have it mooded before you can use 480p.

I bought the first version of the X2VGA which basically was a hacked up HD pack to output VGA. I still have it and it looks as crisp as ever. It looks like they're out of stock right now though.

Thats what I read, so I never bothered with it.

If a normal PAL machine can do HD then I'll get a cable myself.

It can though on some games, it supports 480p, 720p and 1080i, just not very many games could do it over 480p. I don't think the euro Xbox would work with the HD AV pack, out of the box anyway.

Can you remember the names of any the games that supported higher then 480p please??? (anyone)

And was it a case of the games would play at HD res or where they just upscaled to the higher res..

Not actually sure, I guess it probably was upscaled, there's lists around if you google them.

I thought that was one advantage that the Xbox had over the PS2 that all its games were 480p versus 480i. Is this not true for PAL consoles? Do they still run at 480i or 576i?

there's a suprising number of newer games that are 720p.
both fifa2007 and scarface both are

I got my component cable off fleebay and cost about £4 i think, if the genuine MS one is £20 better then i'd be very suprised

My friends xbox box is chipped and he has a very tasty new HD plasma screen to use it on. He currently has a cheapo chinese copy HDAV pack but it gives a crap picture compared to my genuine Microsoft one. Mine came from Lik Sang, it's big shame that Sony killed them (success breeds greed as they say).
