can i use a hdmi cable for the picture and still us the standard cable for sound? does this work or does it only output on 1 port at a time?

Yes & No.
I got my HDMI into my Sammy & the Standard cable feeds sound to my House system, Sounds Awesome. :cool:

yeah thats what i want to do

hdmi into tv for awesome picture and then the red and white audio into my surround system for pro logic

Well that's how I have it but with a bit of Surround sound thrown in, I have to turn it down when I play online though as the tyre screech activates the mic.

yeah it gives surround sound just not 5.1. still sounds amazing when playing call of duty though. its also clever enough to put the voices through the rear speakers when you turn away from characters etc

You have to butcher the standard cable to cut the cables for the video feed. There are guides online, I've done it and it works a treat.

You only really need to crack open the cable housing and you can fit a standard HDMI and the Xbox component cable in the same time for your sound, easy enough job.
