Xbox controller drifting left

Seems like my left stick doesn't always centre properly which results in my character moving left on the screen or worse, in driving games turning slightly left.

Would this justify a warranty replacement and if so, with the retailer or Microsoft? It was before Christmas when I purchased it.

I thought I had this problem when I first had an xbox and Forza 3. It turned out that in Fozra, your car drifts slightly when you get some damage
