Xbox controller launching Xbox app

I think I've cured most of my teething issues with 10, but this one is a pita.

Pressing the centre X button on the controller, the xbox app pop-up appears asking "is this a game?"

On win 7, pressing/holding the button launched Steam Big Picture - but I never configured it like that, it just did it.

Anyone any ideas how to set it back?

Had similar issue myself (but was when i accidently hit the button. Found this which from memory worked for me:

I managed to disable Game bar opening when pressing the Xbox button on a controller, without having to sign in to Xbox first.

This is what I did:
In Steam, press Win+G or Xbox button to open Game bar (choose "Yes, this is a game.")
Open the settings (cog icon) on Game bar and uncheck "Open Game bar using [Xbox logo] on a controller"
Uncheck "Remember this as a game" and Game bar should close

Now Game bar won't open when pressing the Xbox button anymore (seems to be global) and the Xbox button works as expected again in Big Picture mode. To open Game bar later, press Win+G.
