Xbox controller on PC

Can I use the xbox controller for PC, by simply buying the PC receiver. Or is the controller itself different so that it can work on both pc and xbox.

Also where do people get their XLpoints from and what do they spend it on?

If you buy the wireless gaming receiver that'll work fine, or you can just use a wired pad as it uses USB.

Ok cool so the 'wireless for windows' controller @ £27 simply contains a receiver otherwise is same as the normal wireless controller @ £24?

That MS pad also picks up the Wireless Steering Wheel if anyone is interested.

I'd reccommend the wires XBox pad. My mate has the wireless one and it was a mess downloading and installing the drivers for it to work. With my USB on it literally is just plug & play, no extra **** needed for it to work.

drivers are only an issue on windows xp. vista i think doesn't need any additional drivers and win7/8 certainly doesn't.

Can't say I've had a driver issue with any peripherals in Windows 7, Microsoft or otherwise.

never had a driver problem with w7. pretty much plug and play wireless controller. great for lots of games.
