A Lad i know tells me i can use my Play and charge kit with the PC if i change the driver/settings.

However just did a search on Google, and most people say no.

Is this possible or do i need to buy the Windows version?

With a lead as thick as it is i find it hard to believe this is just a charger, especially as it works on the Xbox without a battery?

Chris.

plug and play charge kit only charges, the controller still uses wireless so you need a wireless adapter for the controller i think they cost about 8 quid

yes to you can use a xbox wireless controller on windows 7 my friend bought one off the xbox360 wireless receivers and used that on his pc so that his kid can control pc games etc

don't know about that charge kit.

have to say the wireless controllers are great. I can finally play LEGO star wars \o/

I've just bought a wired Xbox 360 controller tonight, plugged it into my Win 7 PC and it works great, but been trying to play GTA San Andreas and when I try to redefine the keys it doesn't seem to "see" the shoulder triggers or D Pad, is there some third party software I can use that helps to setup the joypad configuration?

Most games will see the triggers as an axis, you need to make sure the game is "Games for Windows Live" to be sure it'll support the 360 controller, you can get the controller working by mapping the buttons to keys, but you won't be able to use the triggers very well, and pressing them both down will be the same as neither having been pressed (100% both ways on one axis = 0% either way)

AFAIK there's no free way of getting the 360 controllers triggers working on pc games that don't support it, I'd say get GTA4, it's probably cheaper than the various software that people make you pay for anyway.

OP: The plug and play charge kit does nothing other than charge it, you can use the USB to charge the controller via your pc, but there's no data transfer via the cable, so you'll have to pick up a wireless receiver. Personally I'd just get a wired controller, I prefer not having the battery pack against my fingers, and with the charge kit the wire is more hassle than with the normal controller imo

Search for "Wireless Receiver for Windows" on ebay, most of those are Chinese fakes but will be usable with Windows 7 no probs afaik. Bear in mind they cost no less than £8 these days and the only way to get them is through websites that sell fakes and ebay/second hand markets. Official ones has been dropped in retail and nowadays they only sell them bundled with wireless controllers. I got a new official Microsoft one for £8 winning an auction, there's not many of those though.

There's Pinnacle Game Profiler - not free. There's also XPadder, 5.3 is the last free version - get it here.
