Xbox Controllers for PC

BFBC2 in particular doesnt have and decent controller support, even with Xpadder i couldnt get it to work quite right. would have liked to have used it for flying helicopters since it seems less arkward than M/KB.

I was very disappointed when the 360 controller didn't work. I had to resort to manual config file editing to get my joystick to work. I was hoping the 360 controller would be plug and play and better for the helicopters. :(

i wouldnt bother with xpadder to be honest, games that are compatible like console ports work fine, but pc specific games just have far too many buttons to import to a 360 controller, ive tried it.

360 Pad for games like Batman AA is great! :D

I'm having problems with mine. The d-pad dosn't work with any game or application I've tried, yet it works in the control panel game controllers settings test tab so the hardware is alriight. Anyone know how to get the d-pad working properly?

Didn't have to do anything special to get the d-pad working. Does the game you're in support it? Same just don't use the d-pad.

Hi Craig. Crysis works but is re-unassignable so you have to stick with the standard crappy button layout which is unusable imo. Not that I'll be using a pad for Crysis anyway, but wanted to test the game with the pad. I've now found a few games that work out of the box, for everything else I've managed to get the d'pad working using Joy To Key which I highly recommend to anyone else having the same problem.

Yesterday, I've received Xbox controller for PC :)
it is wireless one.
As it was late had only quick go on NFS and it works like a charm :)
no setups in menu needed.
and better then keybaord for driving :)

now have to try it out in games like Batman AA or something simillar :)

and to figure out how to swithc the bloody thing off ;D (apart from removing batteries hehe )

I am thinking of getting a 360 controller for windows to play games like Assasins Creed.

Has anyone got that and played it with the controller??

I just quickly dislodge the batteries and clip it shut again once I've finished using it - I've no idea if the pad even has an auto-shutdown or anything, as I'm a little OCD about devices not blaring away with lights once I've finished using them :p

I found a really neat way to use a PS3 pad as a 360 pad. motioninjoy have a set of drivers that allow the use of a bluethooth DS3 pad emulated as a 360 pad, and it has key assignment controls, macros and plenty of settings...

Not had a single game with native pad support not work with these drivers, and even had some games work even if pad support isn't there.

Couldn't get Mass Effect to work well enough though, so back to kb and mouse for that.. .some games on PC are just meant to be played with kb and mouse..

Have been very impressed with pad support for HL2 and valve source games though.. works really well.

Leave it alone for about 15 minutes, and it'll go off by itself.

THat's what I do, not sure if there is any other way. Not that there needs to be, it quicker to remove the batery than the normal way anyway.

Me too. Stupid really. If you don't do this though your pad simply sits there for hours until it runs out of power and needs a recharge.

That's a good idea for those that prefer the Ps3 pad. Its a lot lighter for sure, but I'm really not keen on the triggers as they are not curved and I keep finding if I don't apply enough pressure my fingers eventually slip off them - especially in a game where you have to hold them down like a racing game for example. I have seen an aftermarket trigger snap on that you can get for a couple of quid and was tempted to try it out. The other thing with the Ps3 pad as well is that once the internal batteries die there seems no way to replace them unless you know what you're doing and might be able to somehow get the batteries from somewhere and open the pad up and replace them somehow? I think its a bad design decision but maybe that was intentional to make you buy a new pad every so often? Overal though I think the 360 pad is better designed and more comfortable for me.
