xbox dashboard update.

Also a HDWMV i have which was very choppy before update is playing smooth now so something has changed there :)
 
after a play around I'm loving this update, highlights for me are

1) The speed and fluidity of the dash is practically perfect now, even the guide blade is smooth when requested in game.

2) The new sorting options are so intuitive, just tap your stick left your right and straight away your games are sorted in categories of 'All Games', 'Arcade', 'Demos', 'Recently Played'.

3) And last but not least my favorite new option is the introduction of DIVX support, works perfectly, now I can truly use my 360 as a media box.
 
This avi thing is nice but i've since move my 360 to use my monitor....so i might as well use my pc....and that i haven't sync the 360 to the pc yet since i got the replacement back.
 
Got everything working, had to use WMP11 rather then Vista's Media centre which is a bit of a shame but at least ever Divx & Xvid I through at it plays flawlessly, so much better then Transcode 360 ever did. It even streams the HD stuff better over the Wi-Fi then Media Centre somehow.

Really simple to set up
  • Run WMP11
  • Tools>Options
  • Library Tab>Configure Sharing - Allow XBOX360 (make sure 360 is turned on), make sure everything is ticked in the setting box popup, then click OK
  • Library Tab>Monitor Folders -'My Folders and those of other that I can access' in the 'Advanced Settings' just add all the folders you want to share and get rid of everything you dont. Click OK

And that should be it :)

Mine did that for about a minute, despite the 19mb connection lol. Thought it had killed the 360 for a moment!

Had to reboot the 360 so it would see my video partitions. Xvids are working flawlessly :)

Well I kind of got it sorted - I restarted the sharing in MP11 and I can now play some divx's. For instance I could play the second season of Battlestar galactica fine but season 3 wouldn't play. I would start the file but then the screen would go black and stay black until I turned the xbox off (took 3 presses of the power button) :( Not sure whats wrong
 
I don't like the update :(.
It moves "messages" out the way for "Inside Xbox" and then Friends and Messages on the same slide. You press it and it takes you to your messages first. I mean, what do you check first, what friends are online or what messages you've been sent!

Move Chat and IM out the way first!

It's only minor, but it's annoyed me.

I do prefer the organization of having everything on the left in the "Marketplace" tab though.

thats ridiculous! i used my mates card as being 10pm the shops were shut. Ive tried removing it from the xbox. I made it forget the 3 digit security thing and his birthday in an effort for them to not be able to suck funds out of his account. But does this mean that they still will even tho they dont have all the information needed?

Yep, and then ban your XBL account because it can't get the funds for XBox Live.
 
Something weird has happened with mine, movies that played fine via WMP11 sharing (and also burnt to disc) a couple of days ago now completely refuse to play. Also, divx files which I know should work fine just play the audio, and no picture :/
