Xbox disk tray failed.......

Hi
I am helping a friend (try) to fix his xbox.
It has got the "open tray error"
He has tried the screw method behind the lazer and no luck

Any other suggestions ??
Quicker the better

His laser is probably dead. You could try a pot tweak, but you might as well just buy a new laser. Cheap and easy to install

looking into that, any other reasons for it?
it used to read them eventually, but now it wont read anything after turning some screws

When you say you 'turned some screws' are you talking about the pots on the laser assembly? You can't just turn them and hope for the best, you need to put a meter on them and calibrate them properly. Easy enough, but for the price of a new laser and the ease of fitting it just stop messing around with it and change the laser out.
