xbox dlc download help

I redeemed my forza 4 pre order bonus car pack and track pack codes ages ago and downloadrd the cars etc. I then formatted my Xbox hdd and have now I want to download the packs again but it says I have to pay for them and doesn't seem to remember I have redeemed my code previously so that dlc should be linked to my ms account? my profile remembered I have previously downloaded some free cars and offered to 'download again' so it hasn't forgotten everything I downloaded it just doesn't seem to remember this paid dlc grrr!

When I enter the codes in my game it says the code has been redeemed already. Any idea how I get my free pre order dlc cars?

Also, why can't I install disk one of forza 4 anymore?

Think you are supposed to backup your dlc stuff before wiping your drive or setting up a new device.

Not a clue how but it rings a bell.

Go to the account section on the dashboard, look at your download history, you'll be able to download any dlc from there. No need for any backups of dlc

There are some cars/paintjobs that Turn 10 send you that you won't be able to get again though, those come in through the games mail system.
