I have recently purchased the xbox elite series 2 controller.

the only wireless device i have is my phone and intended just using the controller cabled.

now...out of interest...if i wanted to use it wirelessly do i have to use the official xbox wireless dongle at 20 queen heads or can i just get non m$ at 6 sovs?

thanks in advance for any help....

Thanks for replying m8...

its the series 2 controller i have...it has bluetooth and wireless but i have neither on my pc....

im loathe to spend 20 brick on the m$ wireless dongle and wanted to know if a normal 6 quid usb wireless dongle would work......i have no interest in bluetooth...

You need either a USB Bluetooth adapter, or the Xbox Wireless Adapter.

The official Xbox one works using the same wireless tech as the Xbox console uses (basically a variant of WiFi). It has higher bandwidth and lower latency than Bluetooth, and is less prone to connection problems. From a practical standpoint, the extra bandwidth means you can connect a headset to the Xbox controller. This feature isn't supported over Bluetooth.

Personally, I'd buy the official adapter. The Elite isn't exactly cheap, so why wouldn't you want the best possible connection?

You spend how much on buying the expensive elite controller and now no want to spend the £20 for the wireless adapter

I'm using it with a normal bluetooth adapter from asus which works fine. Only reason I didn't go with the MS one was I was plugging it into my keyboards usb slot and preferred the slim dongle!
