Xbox failures? Comparisson to PS3/Wii

One of my main issues with the 360 (when I had one) wasn't so much the failures but more the fact that they would regularly lock up in certain games. Is this still the case or was this more common with the original models?

It happened with all three of the consoles and the main culprits seemed to be Gears of war and Call of duty 3. Touch wood I've never had a game lock up on the PS3 (although I have had it lock up in the web browser) :(

The other issue I had is it sounded like I had my own private jet parked in my lounge, which wouldn't have been so bad if true (well I had a jet that is, not in my lounge).

Dodgy electrics maybe? That is a shocking failure rate!

Mine broke 6 times and my bros broke twice. i wouldnt say its due to dodgy electrict because my ps3, dreamcast, ps2 and all my pc's run fine.

to be honest. i would be willing to buy a new elite as it will come with 3 year warranty anyway and in 3 years time, a new console will probably come out.

The anti-Wii fanboys will tell you that the Wii doesn't break nearly as often because they don't get used as much.

Those of us with brains will tell you that irrespective of how much the Wii is used it just plain doesn't run as hot as the PS3 or 360, which is doubtless a key factor in the failure rates.

I would be surprised at even 1 million ps3's failing - out of the 25m or so sold, I know there have been failures and some very common problems but it just never seemed to get to anywhere near that kind of level (just from a general observation point of view)

and yes I have just bought an X360 elite and am so far very happy with it, but I still treat it with kid gloves just in case;)

Your saying cooling is the issue yet you might buy a newer slimline model?
Yes, as they will have to redesign the whole thing to shrink down the casing etc too.

The only chips on the underside from memory is a couple of RAM chips and they don't really need cooling at all . Nothing to do with the RRoD at all.
Google the penny trick, it can solve the 3 lights issue.

360 and ps3 both have big design flaws and using non lead solder hasn't helped them this is one of the main causes of there problems the other big problem for ps3 is the blu-ray drive so many problems but that's Sony look at there history they always have laser issues but denied it.

If 360 wasn't a Microsoft product there wouldn't be so much talk about rrod take a look at ps2 that has big problems but it was fairly quiet.

at the end of the day all 360 and ps3 will end up dying within 5 years unless them redesign them which they wont.

Wii is old tec it's like xb1 spec but with ati graphics so it should never have more then 2-3% fault rate only the dvd drive wearing should be issue with it.
