Moving forward, we plan to release all new Xbox One exclusive games from Microsoft Studios into Xbox Game Pass on the same date as their global release. This means that when Sea of Thieves launches on March 20, it will be included in Xbox Game Pass to all members.

This plan to bring new games timed with their global release into Xbox Game Pass not only includes announced titles like Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2, and Crackdown 3 but future unannounced games from Microsoft Studios including new iterations of our biggest Xbox One exclusive franchises such as Halo, Forza and Gears of War, on the same day they launch.

Ok that just went from a "meh I sub when im bored and want something to play" to a sign me up now.

@£7.99 a month thats 2 games worth for a year, I was buying all 3 of the games they are putting on it already SoT, SoD2 and Crackdown 3 so ive already made a saving.

Just a shame they removed the 1 year sub from Microsoft rewards last month.

It sounds almost too good to be true,
I guess they could mess it up with DLCs or some other such thing but right now its almost too good to miss.

That said if i'm paying £7.99 a month and getting the next forza game included i'm not so bothered about dropping £20 on a car pass or something, as long as they don't cut the base game back to the bone.

Wasn't all that fussed on the game pass but this changes things up a bit. I don't think I'll be able to resist it now.

**** it. Subbed.

I just don't see why they would do it? I could sub for 1 month to play 1 newly launched game then cancel. So they get 7.99 instead of 40-50?

Have they said it's the full games, not just trials like EA access has done in the past for new releases?

What s the betting they up the monthly sub if it is as good as it sounds? I'm up for it if it's as they say

*also am I right in thinking that currently some games rotate out of Game pass, I.e. they are only on there for a certain amount of time? If so they could have the new games on for a few weeks then rotate them out.. dunno I just feel there has to be a catch

People dont always..or usually pay full RRP for a new game they are "kinda " interested in, so usally will wait a good time and pick it up at a heavily discounted price. So MS would be making money back on those on the fence by them always paying every month. Im sure theres a law of averages they can work out.

With Sea of thieves being an MP game it means if that's one of the main games you're interested in you have to keep a sub active to play.

Great news for those who already sub! I think i'll continue to just buy the games outright, most of the current games on game pass i've already played (or I'm not interested in playing) and the upcoming first party games i'll just buy.

I wonder how the money works for this. If I subscribe at £7.99 for a month and play 60 hours in total, 40 Gears of War 4, 10 Borderlands and 10 Layers of Fear, for example, what amounts does each publisher get? And how much do MS take for infrastructure, etc. Or does MS just pay a flat fee to third parties to have their games on there, presumably as they do with Games with Gold. Gearbox, here's $5,000 to have unlimited use of your Borderlands 1 game.

I think it would work a bit like what you say yes.

Think how much game pass may bring in ..

If they have 1 million people join that almost 8 million pound every month

PlayStation plus is meant to have around 27 million paying subscribers

Don't forget Xbox has Xbox live which is probably on par with what sony brings in for plus, this service is separate to that too

I like the idea of this service even though I don't have an xbox however do you not think this is going to kill off a lot of single player titles from Microsoft? To me they will go down the whole "games with service" model and this would greatly change how games turn out.

For eg, Fable is rumoured to be making a come back. This should be a single player title first and co op second. I can see this being FULL of micro transactions and mini charges here and there killing the game (at least for me).

The biggest gripe in gaming at the moment is micro trans and loot boxes, I can see Microsoft double downing on this now. Sacrificing single player stories in Halo and Gears and expanding the universe into a destiny like always online bore fest.

Just my opinion obvs lol.

Has this news been confirmed? It might be enough for me to get an XBox X if so. Mostly for Crackdown 3, but Sea of Thieves looks damn tasty too.

Im deffo signing up, at £7.99 a month thats just shy of £96 a year.

Digitally SoT is £50, assuming the same for State of Decay and Crackdown 3 I am already way ahead.
Add in the rumoured FH4 this year and yeah its a no brainer.

I wish they had a cheaper 1 year sub but they now have a good reason to keep it monthly.

Maybe the idea of Xbox Platinum, Live and GamePass, Id drop £100 for that.

And It does have some pretty good games on it already,
Mad Max, Metro, Halo 5, all the gears games, MGSV, OK so a lot of those games people already have or have no interest in ( i never subbed before cause I had most of the big hitters already)

I think a lot of loyal Xbox players have a good 50% of the library from either games with gold or past purchases. This new step makes it more appealing to the "hardcore" by giving you new stuff.
