Hi. I have heard that you can mod an Xbox gamepad, to work on a PC. Being USB, you chop of the original and solder on a USB 2 Connecter. Is this just hearsay, or can it actually be done!

Yes it can be done quite easily, either DIY or by buying an adaptor.

If you DIY, the wires solder like for like, except for one - yellow I think? You will also need some drivers off the net.

Personally I would just buy an adaptor, or even a new 360 pad.

If you're talking about the old Xbox controller, it should be a case of just wiring on a USB connection on the end, sure there'll be some tutorials out there somewhere.

If you're thinking about the Xbox 360 pad however, the wired one will work out of the box on the PC, the wireless one will work with a special MS wireless adapter.

Talking of Xbox gamepads.

Did a decent wireless Xbox pad get released? My bro is after one as he's having my old xbox.

I've looked around but everywhere is out of stock. Xbox stuff seems to be losing shelf space rather quickly.

I have 2 wireless Xbox pads.
A madcatz for my daughter (little hands) works fine and one branded 4gamers or something from a high street game specific store. They still do them afaik.

Thanks guys ;)

It can be done, google it.

edit: here, done it for you,

Thanks Mud. Was lazy of me.... Thanks :)

How do the 360 pads compare in terms of weight, against the original Xbox pad. I personally liked the feel of it?

The 360 pads are better in every way, well recommended. The wired pads are very light.

Hi. Got one today. It's very impressive to the touch. Feels more responsive than my Logitech. Anyway, it's got my recommendation :)
