Any idea's got GTA SA playing on my 360 but I get black bars down the side and the screen is wrong in SA it makes everything really skinny.

Its running through the MS vga lead to a lcd tv @1024/768 60hz tried changing to widescreen etc anyone know why or what I can do, ruins the game.

The dashboard downloaded from xbox live the update also.

hmm thats strange, i played in high def mode on a 360, and i got no bars with this game, i was using component at 720P, if thats any help.......

edit - i could be talking balls, it may have been before i got the TV

try running it in standard def and see if that helps :)

This one of the few downsides to the VGA cable, it's that it sometimes has to be changed to different resolutions to accomodate the game.

As some Xbox1 games are non-widescreen, you'll get a 4:3 ratio game displayed, leaving black bars on the left and right.

Which resolution are you running on? See if it makes any difference running on 1024x768.

I have this problem with fable?? whatever resolution i use I get thick black bars each side of the screen,, surely fable was made in widescreen wasnt it?? doesnt seem that old a game??

Found a solution: Only way to display it properly is to change to component cable and then MUST select 420p resolution, this is how i just got fable to display full widescreen, sure it will be the same for any game with same prob :)

Thanks guys - as suggested tried different resolutions and it displayed correctly at 640 after I auto adjust the Tv, although it doesn't look as crisp, I guess there's not a lot I can do.

OK I'll give that a go,

ive been playing it the last couple of days on my widescreen standard tv . Nothing weird to report except for the smallest bar on the far left on random whiteness but tahts it

Hi all, the TV is a standard 4:3 the only solution I've found is to use the standard scart lead but the quality is poor or the vga lead and lower the res to 640 and do an auto set on the TV but lose the crisp look of 1024.

The Tv doesn't have the component inputs as its only a basic 15inch flat screen TV with svideo, scart and PC input, I think I've run out of options other than maybe the RGB advanced scart but that's another £20 and may not work either.

Many thanks for the sugestions so far.
