Just got a bigger tv to plug the 360 into, ps3 works fine but the xbox isnt having any of it, on the old tv it was 1080i/60 which the ps3 works at on the new tv, the 360 however says out of range, have plugged it in with a vga cable and done the reset rt/y thing and it displays through that at 640/480, gone throug all the hdmi options on the old tv then plugged it into the new tv but still no joy...

Any suggestions?

Dont really want to do a full reset on it, unless i can back up the profiles and saves then nuke the 360 to complete initial setup point, see if that works.

Tv's an old kdl-32p3020, have tried it in both hdmi ports, nothing, was thinking a service reset on the tv but cant find the key combo for it to reset it...

Looks like the kdl-32p302 is only HD Ready, so it'll only do 480i/p, 720p and 1080i.

Try resetting the Xbox like below when connected to the TV. You'll want to set it to 720p, as the TV is native 720p. You wont lose anything doing a display settings reset by this:

Reset your display settings. To do this:
- Remove any discs from the disc tray.
- Turn off the console.
- Turn on the console.
Note If you are using an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, turn on the console by using the Guide button on the controller. Make sure that you use the player 1 controller when you do this. The player 1 controller will have the upper-left light illuminated.

As the console starts, on the controller, press and hold Y while pulling the right trigger. The display settings are reset to the default settings, and then the console automatically restarts.

Tried that already, it reset to 640/480, plugged into the new TV and still nothing, tried both hdmi as well.

weirdly the ps3 works fine...
