Hi all,

My current setup for xbox:

XBOX 360, HDMI
Projector: HDMI
Old Creative 5.1 digital 5500 speaker set: Optical Connectivity

I have no headphone socket on either the speakers or the projector and I need some headphones since playing games with the sound up, is very noisy downstairs and irritating to the other half.

I was looking to get the turtle wireless headphones to connect up, but it looks like it needs a headphone jack to plug the receiver into?

What can I get to overcome this? Is it possible for plugging it somewhere else that I'm not thinking about?

Cheers.

If you have an AV lead for the xbox that has the red+white phono connectors on, you can take the plastic housing off it so it fits in the xbox at the same time as teh HDMI
then get a 2 x phono to 3.5mm socket lead (or even a cheap headphone amp, such as the btech bt928, if you want wired headphones)

There could be better ways but thta would work.

I went for the Astro MixAmp. Superb piece of kit but pricey but definitely worth it. Do a forum search and I'll sure you'll find my long thread. It even allows you to connect the headphones to the controller and you can then choose the game/voice volume levels on the fly.

Mixamp uses Optical Input.

Sorry to ambush your thread with my own question but I've just ordered a zalman clip on mic could someone who maybe has an Astro MixAmp 5.8 and headphones tell me how you connect it all up?

I.e. Do the headphones just got straight to amp and the mic into the xbox controller input on amp or do you have to go through the xbox controller first?

Cheers dude,

This worked :)

X11's are greaaat!

X11's are great for their price. Definitely get the best value for money with them.
Mine is however on it's way out, had it nearly a year. Benji was thinking about getting the Razer 5.1 Chimeara's, how do you rate them? Or compare them to other headsets?
