Xbox IP in DMZ

Hi all

I'm sure I'm probably missing something but I'm trying to put my Xbox into my Belkin router's DMZ. I've given the DMZ an IP of 192.168.2.5 in the router settings.

When I change the IP from automatic to manual in the console settings I can no longer connect to XBL - presumably my Xbox's IP needs to be fixed in order to remain in the DMZ ?

Any ideas ?

thanks

Which model of router? DMZ implementation differs.

Any reason you cannot use NAT/Port forwarding to avoid putting it in a DMZ?

Its a Belkin F6D4230uk4, It gives me a single IP address to specify as the DMZ - I guess I could try NAT/port forwarding if it is easier ?

You need to manually configure your DNS servers aswell, with out it a static IP on the Xbox is meaningless, there should be the option under the static IP for the xbox, put your router IP as one and something like 8.8.8.8 as the other (thats googles DNS servers) .

I'll have a look - thanks :)
