Xbox Live account question

So, i have been paying for Xbox Live every month, directly from my CC for the last year or so, and I'm thinking about just buying a 12month subscription voucher so MS no longer have my credit card details.

The question: if i enter a voucher code and it lasts for a year, will MS keep charging me every month? Or will they not charge me until it expires in a years time? Or do i need to cancel all CC payments on Xbox Live by phoning MS, and then enter the voucher code?

Doesn't look like its easy to cancel CC payments after a quick Googling, so any help appreciated :)

i'd phone them up, remove your card from your account and then use the scratch card.

in theory they wont charge your card if your gold account is still active, but you never know.

getting your card of the MS system is easier said than done.

That's what i'd heard...which is why i was thinking about just getting a voucher for 12 months (and hope that they don't charge me any more, which they shouldn't do)...and then i cancel my credit card in the next few months as its knackered anyway so they shouldn't be able to take anything from me directly ever again.

Sound like a plan?

be aware though that if you dont let them know about your card being cancelled, if they try to charge your account and the payment doesnt authorise they have been known to ban people.

annoying isnt the word.

Apparently they can't remove CC details, they can only replace them with new ones or cancel my account (including losing gamertag and everything associated with it).

Just to rub salt in the wounds, he puts me on hold for a second time asking that i wait for a reference number. I asked what use it would be if they can't do what im asking, he ignored me. Waited for 5 minutes and hung up...am now teetering over the edge, think i might just cancel the whole thing just because their policies are disgusting.

if you put in a 12 month code then they wont charge your card at all not sure why your bothered about your card details still being there? Cancel your credit card with the bank if your really that concerned about MS stealing from you :)
