Downstairs, I have a Netgear WNDR4500 with DD-WRT firmware. The Xbox One downstairs is wired into this router (which is wired into a Virgin Superhub 2 in modem only mode).

Upstairs, I have a Netgear WNDR3700 also with DD-WRT. This is wired into the WNDR4500 and is used to provide an upstairs wireless network.

uPnP has been enabled on the WNDR4500 and both consoles are on DHCP. Both consoles appear to be able to get online but if I try and setup a party with myself on one console and my son on there other, chat doesn't work.

We can play games against each other such as NHL and COD but we can never chat to one another. Is there anything else I can tweak or configure to get this working?

I ran into the same problem on our ps4's, Worked ok the first time we played but nothing the second time.

Something to do with the chat server not knowing what console is which as you are both on the same IP. Need to put them both in a DMZ or something, Google is full of threads.

uPnP should be the solution this so perhaps it isn't working properly. How old is the version of DD-WRT you're running, if it's out out date can you update it to a more recent version?

I was on a fairly recent build (think it was from end of Oct). I've reverted back to the latest stock Netgear firmware. Will see how I get on with that when I get a chance to check it again.

I've had lots of problems with destiny while using a wired connection, constant drop outs, nat voice errors etc. I use wireless now and I rarely have any problems.
