XBOX LIVE and used games

Hi there, just bought myself an XBOX 360 yesterday and haven't had a chance to go on-line yet and have a quick question. Have had a quick look here and google didn't bring any results either and first time I've used a console on-line so don't know how it works. Am thinking of buying a few used games but I'm not sure how it works on the XBOX. I know with PC games once they have been registered it can be difficult to play them due to the serial number being registered to a particular user on-line is this the same with the XBOX 360?

Nope it doesn't work the same way as PC games.

No serial numbers etc.

Just buy that game and play.

Nope nothing like that, thats why you can rent games.

One exception to this is Gears of War 2. When you buy it new it contains a scratch card with a code that lets you unlock a bunch of multiplayer maps. If you get it used and the card has been used you can't unlock the maps.

Not a biggie, but it was speculated that this was an attempt to force people to buy new rather than pick up some second-hand bargains.
