xbox live blocked

hi I'm on here inquiring for a friend which is in halls at uni and has just bought an xbox 360, he can't get onto live because it seems to be blocked by the university. is there anyway he can get round this?
its plymouth uni by the way

no doubt they have closed the ports to stop people hogging all the bandwidth.

Google "xbox live web proxy", second link down some guy has written a tutorial on how to setup your own PC as a proxy to get around it.

You can use your PC as a proxy, I did that in my first year

i know you can play PC games on uni networks, but i'm guessing it's not possible on the 360 as you have to connect to Live to find other users?

Although it's probably different at your uni.
