Xbox live down?

Just tried to connect to Xbox live for the first time in months. I bought a gold membership which I activated and haven't even used once so I thought I'd make use of it by but I can't connect. Connection test seems to suggest Xbox live is down. Sigh...pathetic.

No mate. I have been playing on live On & Off all day. Was a few probs yesterday but today has been sound.
You have to expect a few probs with all the xmas nubs signing up.

I have spent 24 out of the last 48 hours on Live playing COD4 and had no hint of problems.

Yet, loads of folk are moaning about it whilst others have not seen anything wrong. :confused:

I, my GF (same house) and sister (20 miles away) have all experienced issues with live tonight. Off and on, all intermittent times too.
