right *deep breath!* can anyone please for the love of Jesus help me out here. been trying to play with me mate on Xbox live for few hours now, problem is whenever I sign into my gold account, within a couple of minutes I get randomly kicked from Xbox live for no apparent reason. tried resetting router (even though my laptop detected router without any problems in the same room as my Xbox, messed around on the internet for a good while, streamed some stuff, no issues. however still the problem persists and I am at a loss, never had this sort of issue, using Virgin Media 'Super-hub', 807.11n or something along those lines and Xbox 360 Wireless N adaptor. thanks to anyone who can offer some insight, anything would be greatly appreciated! ;)

Usually the Super hub opens your Xbox nat without the need for port forwarding.

Is your super hub set to 5Ghz in the wireless setup?

Run the Live network test to see if there are any NAT restrictions.

Make sure uPnP is enabled on the router.

Try running a cat5 is you are close enough to see if the problem goes away. also check the signal strength on the Wifi connection 1 bar is prone to dropout on my 360s so move it somewhere else on the desk to try get a better signal....

a mate of mine on VM says hes getting no end of trouble due to their "anti p2p" thottling slowing traffic down to a crawl.

At least BTs trottling knows what a xbox is and only kills torrent traffic.

VM just throttle anything over X amount download between certain times, regardless of where it's from or on which protocol. They're most probably so over-protective of their beloved over-subscribed network they've just decided to not bother filtering out specific bandwidth-heavy traffic such as torrents and the like. A right pain for those legitimate users who do need to download/stream anything.

all is good, fixed it, never guess what I think was causing it! the missus in all her infinite wisdom decided to know the USB cable connecting the wireless N adaptor to the Xbox out, can't believe it was that simple! if in doubt, check the simplest thing first! also what is wrong with Virgin Media Hubs? haven't had any problems at all with mine, is a damned sight better than that last router I used (Belkin), now get some awesome smooth streaming on my laptop upstairs! ;)
