xbox live gold + windows live problem

I sold an xbox which has a gold account on it and the buyer is asking me for my windows live ID saying he cant log in ? what on earth is he on about ? I never used a windows live ID.

All I did was choose a gamertag name, and email and password when I got my 12 months live voucher as far as I remember ? how can he change this to his own ? is windows live ID something which you set up on the xbox after you choose a gamertag etc ? or you link it through windows live to a gamertag ?

Your Windows Live ID is basically your Gamertag on PC since they are cross platform. For example I recently started using my Xbox 360 GT in Dawn of War 2, since you have to use it to play Multi-player. I've no idea what his issue is, but if he has the email address registered to the account as well as the password he should have everything he needs.

Edit: I read it wrong I'm assuming you didn't give him the email & password? If not that is what he is after, if you don't want to give it to him you will need to change it to his email & password. Windows Live ID is used for all sorts of things such as Games for Windows, MSN, Xbox Live and so on.

Edit 2: Also did you attach any debit or credit cards to the gold account? If so he can use them to buy stuff from the Xbox Live market place.

I never signed up for any windows live stuff I simply chose gamertag email and password and used the voucher to get xbox live gold

I did not fill in any windows live stuff nor sign up for any

as for cards no of course not lol was just a voucher

If you gave him the email and password he should have everything he needs.

About the cards I was just making sure since I've known a few people register their credit/debit cards to the account, completely forget and then sell the console on without deleting the account or removing the information. Luckily they sold them to friends or family so it wasn't an issue for them
